Real Estate Market Defies Slump

There is a great article written on the News 8 website today discussing the real estate trends of the Austin area specifically touching on the development of downtown and the affordable housing market. The article also discussed suburban growth citing Cedar Park has had it’s population grow 93% from where it was six years ago making it the 11th fastest growing city in the U.S. Pflugerville, Round Rock, Hutto and Kyle were also mentioned.

10 Hottest Job Markets

Austin’s made another top ten list and this is a good one! With more jobs being created and brought in, the demand for housing is on the rise. One job sector that has brought in the majority of new jobs for Austin is technology. Austin remains the Silicon Valley of the South and it looks like that wont change, at least not for a while.

#1 Phoenix

#2 Salt Lake City

#3 Boise, Idaho

#4 Riverside - San Bernardino, California

#5 Houston

#6 Dallas - Ft. Worth

#7 Las Vegas

#8 Austin - Five year growth rate: 14.3%

Remained consistently strong with 69,000 jobs added since 2004. That’s an average of 1,900 added jobs a month!
